Balmy October Days

Autumn Camellia

This first half of the month of October
is giving us beautiful clear skies and deliciously warm temperatures,
anything between 19 and 24 Celsius.

Vibrant Dahlia

I've been going out for lots of walks,
especially down by the lake and in the country.

The hibiscus down by the lake were in full, glorious bloom.
Taken in Montreux.

Perfection

This bud is still wet from watering.

An American Oak leaf
well and truly caught in the spikes of a bush below the tree.

Fallen from this beautiful Oak Tree where the colours are starting to turn.

Deep blue skies and colourful branches.
This one was taken in my neighbourhood.

I love this garden gate with the geranium flowers coming out to greet the next visitor.
They seem to say: "Welcome, we're expecting you!"

I do my weekly marketing downtown on Saturdays
and this is the latest bouquet I brought home with me.
I do love the mixture of fresh colours.

I hope that you are also having a beautiful month of October
with generous sunshine and clear autumn skies.

Day 20 - In My Hand

Nestled in my hand

A tiny phlox bloom

Searched for the light

She had fallen from the plant
at the height of her beauty

Looking for a tender hand to save her from her plight.

I was lucky to capture these photos on my balcony just before the storm broke and the
heavy rain fell, bouncing off the road and path.
Ah!
Coolness at last!

When Summer Lingers

This is the time of the year
when late summer and early autumn join together
as the autumn equinox approaches.

I notice this as the hydrangea leaves change colour with splashes of red.

The petals take on a more muted shade

and shades of green come back rather like in the springtime

The dahlias are having their last fling in glorious full bloom

and showing the intensity of their varied colours

Bees are still busy taking advantage of the sunny days to collect pollen.

and the Golden Rod lights up the gardens

and Rudbeckia blooms dazzle us with their sunshine petals

until one day it starts to rain
and the first autumn leaf floats down to remind us
a change in seasons is taking place.

The last blog header to remind me of earlier days
when sunflowers still waved in the fields.
